How to set S.M.A.R.T. Goals to keep your PR on track

One of the main reasons I work with my clients on setting S.M.A.R.T. goals, is because it makes PR so much more manageable and avoids the overwhelm.

Set Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-based goals that you can shape to effortlessly fit into your working day/ week, and make it easy for you to keep track of your progress.

Read on for my handy guide on how to do this.

S - SPECIFIC

This is all about giving you focus. Be clear on what you want.

E.g. I want to increase my product placement  in print press, I want to secure podcast interviews., or I want to book more speaking engagements.

M - MEASUREABLE

Measuring your goals will keep you motivated and make it much easier to track progress.

E.g. I’d like to appear in 3 print magazines, secure 2 podcast interviews, or book 1 speaking engagement.

A - ACHIEVABLE

Can you put time aside to make this goal attainable? Do you have the right content /skills?

E.g. I've updated my bio and produced new images, I've put time aside to pitch journalists and producers.

R - RELEVANT

Are your targets relevant and do they align with your business / brand?

E.g. I’ve researched reasonable, realistic targets, perfect to reach new audiences / to sell more product ./ to raise my profile

T - TIME BASED

Give yourself a deadline or timeframe, not to put the pressure on, but to give yourself something positive to work towards.

E.g. I hope to achieve this over the next 3 months
