How to Celebrate Milestones with PR
Planning activities around Brick's 10th birthday this year got me thinking about how important milestones are for a PR strategy. I've used my own experience to offer up some ideas below.
Milestones (1 year, three years, X amount of sales or clients, a sold-out event ... wherever you're at!) offer an excellent opportunity to evaluate your progress and a good time to show off! Here's how you can capitalise on it and why it matters:
π£ It's newsworthy - Milestones or key points of success add topical, noteworthy sauce to any press activity you're doing. Make sure to add to press releases, on email signatures, in bios etc., and let the credibility do its work for you.
π·οΈ Offer a special offer or discount. Draw attention to your milestone by offering a discount or something special to your audience/ current client base. It could be a code or a giveaway; it's also a great time to try adding new services.
π€Reach out to past and present clients and gather new testimonials. It's a great time to take stock and show off your most recent work and your all-time favourites. I'm featured in this month's Creative Boom Tips article offering this exact advice! Tried and tested!
π€Industry press and PR opportunities. Consider putting yourself out there for press opportunities, particularly within industry press. Talking heads, interviews, guest articles - work to your strengths and go from there.
πCreate special content to mark the occasion that can also become part of your PR activity. Such as a guide or e-book, a workshop or course, merchandise, one-off pieces, or whatever makes sense for your business.
