A quick guide to Key Messages

Key Messages are essential when it comes to brand communication. Key messages are a set of words, phrases, descriptions to help tell your story and stay on message.

HINT: What would you like someone to say about you / a new product / a service when you leave the room?

Here are some pointers for you on what to consider when devising your own:

🔑 Concise - less is more, keep it manageable, come up with 3-6.

🔑 Strategic - Use key messages to define what you do, and address your values and personality for your audience

🔑 Simple - use easy to understand language

🔑 Memorable - make them easy to recall

TIP: The difference between your brand values and key messages (for me) are that you can assign key messages for a specific PR campaign, for example if you launch a new product. Brand values are overarching and consistent with your overall brand. They can all be the same, of course. But I like to think that key messages give you a bit of flexibility to adapt when needed.
