Tips for Autumn and Winter press activity

MUSICIANS

If possible, avoid releasing music too close to Christmas (especially the second half of December, the first half January). Most publications will prep their December content in advance; many people are off on hols, and some regular features are usually switched out for things like 'Best releases of the year' or holiday-themed content.
PRO TIP: Be on the lookout for Ones to Watch features and playlists for 2024 since it is quieter for big-label releases and can sometimes be easier to stand out.

FOUNDERS

If you're a product-based business, you have probably already been getting in the mix for Christmas gift guides. If not, there's still time for online guides (which are better anyway, as they can link directly to the product and aren't usually limited to only a page full of products).
PRO TIP: If you need somewhere to start, google last year's lists and see who's been compiling them historically at your preferred publications.
Also, check #JournoRequest on X (Twitter), which will be full of writers looking for specific products to review.
